I saw the movie at the Winnipeg International Film Festival this year, directed by Gary Yates: I liked the play better. The movie was just recent too, but it's a distant memory that won't stick. This was also the fourth George F. Walker play performed by the same company with various directors and a few cast changes too. The characters, especially Ryan Morton's, had a sense of urgency, but Claire Friessen had a stillness that contrasted everyone else and gave good balance. It was great seeing Randal Payne again and it's always good to see Cairn Moore perform. All the actors did good and held the story together, expressing the cynicism that poisoned everyone and traumatized the last of them. I wonder what other playwright they'll tackle next year?
